Property in Cape Town

Cape Town is considered one of the most naturally scenic and culturally diverse cities in the world, attracting visitors from all over the globe.  South Africa’s Mother City is renowned for its endless stretches of coastline, dappled with white sandy beaches, languid lagoons and panoramic views of azure blue sea.  Of course, the city’s main claim to fame is the immense and enigmatic Table Mountain that stands guard with its enormous frame over the ever-spreading Cape Peninsula.  With such an incredible beauty and diversity, it’s no wonder that so many investors are interested in property in Cape Town.

Property in Cape Town’s city centre tends to be on the small side, as space is quite limited and in constant competition with the tremendous expansion of business in the area.  Moving out to the suburbs, whether Northern or Southern, the properties tend to be a lot bigger and these areas have well established infrastructures, with excellent road systems and access to all the necessary amenities.  Constantia is located in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs and known for its oak tree lined avenues that promise relative peace and quiet in comparison to the madness of inner city life.  Further north, Durbanville is regarded as one of the most popular residential areas, with large stately homes and a variety of excellent schools in the vicinity.

Cape Town is also renowned for its affiliation with the arts, boasting a rich heritage of theatre and music.  Rondebosch is home to one of the top academic institutions in the world, the University of Cape Town, which also has a long and vibrant history in the struggle against Apartheid in South Africa.  The city is a literal melting pot of cultures from around the globe, with settlers from Indonesia, France, the Netherlands, Britain and Germany having made it their home, along with the local Bushmen, Hottentot and Bantu tribes.  The city is hugely popular as a holiday destination and this ultimately pushes up the price of property in Cape Town.

The most affluent residential areas form part of the Atlantic Seaboard, namely Camps Bay and Clifton, which house some of the most expensive luxury homes in South Africa.  The Blouberg area is another region that lies along the coast and a number of exciting residential developments have sprung up in recent years, particularly in Bloubergstrand and MelkbosstrandTable View is one of the more established residential suburbs in this part of Cape Town and has property in all tiers of the market.  Sun, sea and sand is not all Cape Town has to offer though, the interior promises lush winelands, rolling hills and majestic mountains that encompass many fertile valleys.  It really is no wonder that such a fascination arises in the heart of all those who visit here, ensuring that buying property in Cape Town is a guaranteed sound investment.
